Hot Air Affair in Hudson

Hot air enthusiasts take to the crisp Wisconsin winter air for a spectacular showcase of color and fun.

Boring, gray winter skies take on a vibrant colorful side as hot air balloonists from across the Midwest take to the air over Hudson for the annual Hot Air Affair. Balloons of all shapes, sizes and colors delight visitors February 2-4, 2007, with a flurry of events and activities sure to help everyone kick those winter blues.

The stars of the show are the nearly 50 balloons that fire up their burners and rise towards the clouds in a spectacular mass ascension on Saturday morning, then break the dark in grand fashion Saturday night as they light up the sky with the Moon Glow flight. Cameras are a must to capture the spectacle as pilots fire their burners and display their magnificent balloons.

Hot Air Affair isn't just a spectator event. A full schedule of fun events awaits visitors to the annual festival. Learn how to inflate, launch and pack up a hot air balloon at the free crew schools. Take part in the crazy Winter Olympiad with events including the armchair quarterback toss and the turkey bowl. Other activities include a teen dance, snow volleyball, torchlight parade and the annual chili cook-off.
