ATV Riding

ATV riders find fun and adventure on Wisconsin's scenic trails.

With more than 1,000 miles of trails through picturesque landscape, northern Wisconsin sees plenty of all-terrain vehicle action. In many areas statewide, trails that were originally developed for use as snowmobiling highways during the winter are being made available for ATVing in the warmer-weather months.

In north-central Wisconsin, Price County's 60-mile Flambeau Trail System follows scenic, hilly terrain through dense woodlands, across wooden bridges and along sparkling waterways in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

Jackson County, in west-central Wisconsin, boasts 95 miles of trails through the open country and the Black River State forest.

Other popular Wisconsin ATVing destinations include a 150-mile trail network in northern Wisconsin's Iron County that passes lakes, waterfalls and historical points of interest; a 38-mile trail that winds through the Flambeau River State Forest in northwestern Wisconsin; and the 74-mile Tuscobia State Trail, a former railbed that connects Rice Lake and Park Falls and traverses the Blue Hills, Flambeau River State Forest and Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

The Park Falls area is so ATV-friendly that the city allows ATV riders to drive on designated streets so that they can easily access lodging, restaurants and other local businesses.
