Madison, Wisconsin, is the only capital city located on an isthmus.

A Heritage Hill Christmas

Discover the holiday customs of days gone by as Heritage Hill State Park in Greey Bay brings yuletide cheer to visitors, whisking them back to the pioneer days during "A Heritage Hill Christmas" (Dec. 6, 13 and 20). Wisconsin history is uniquely presented with costumed interpreters authentic to the time period representing pioneer, military, small-town or agricultural lifestyles. Festivities include weekend musical performances featuring local choirs and ensembles at the park's Moravian church.

Grouped into themed areas, including the 1672 Wisconsin fur trade era, 1836 military heritage of Fort Howard, the homes and shops of 1871, and a 1905 cheese factory and Belgian farm, the twenty-five furnished, historic buildings take on a new life as they are decked out in their historic holiday best. Costumed guides help interpret three centuries of northeastern Wisconsin's history.
