Fond du Lac

Located at the base of Lake Winnebago, Fond du Lac (French for "foot of the lake") goes out of its way to introduce visitors to its many charms. It offers "Talking Houses and Historic Places," a self-guided tour of the city during which many of the sites tell their tales over the car radio. The Fond du Lac CVB also offers "Talking Country Roads," which outlines rural points of interest in Fond du Lac County. The city's attractions include a historic lighthouse and antique carousel in 400-acre Lakeside Park. A magnificent collection of German woodcarvings can be found in the impressive St. Paul's Cathedral downtown.

Fond du Lac is also a convenient starting point for several interesting day trips. The striking natural wonders of Horicon Marsh and the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest are also easy drives to the south.
