Grant County

Occupying the hilly southwestern corner of the state, Grant County is bordered by the Mississippi River on the west and the wild and remote lower Wisconsin River on the north. Its small towns offer plenty of rural hospitality. Tour the area’s historic sites, including the Grant County Courthouse in Lancaster, patterned after St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Fennimore offers a pair of delightful museums for rail enthusiasts and doll collectors. The county’s bluff-lined streams and riverbeds tempt trout anglers with quality populations of brown and brook trout.
