Menomonie, on the Red Cedar River, another former lumber town, now provides a rich harvest of antiques. The downtown also offers a pair of beautifully restored historic sites, the Mabel Tainter Memorial Theater and the Wilson Place Museum. In addition, Menomonie is the gateway to the Red Cedar State Trail, a 14-mile hiking and biking route that includes an 846-foot-long former railroad bridge.
