Oshkosh is a picturesque community on the western shore of Lake Winnebago. Well-preserved historic buildings and a state university contribute to a small town, homey character. But there's big-city appeal as well: world-class museums in restored mansions, performing arts, boat excursions, first-rate dining and lodging, and specialty shopping. Oshkosh also holds the world's largest aviation event, "EAA AirVenture Oshkosh," which each year attracts more than 12,000 airplanes and 800,000 spectators for an annual fly-in.
