Shawano & Menominee Counties

Shawano and Menominee Counties are rich in Wisconsin history. They market their past as a Heritage Tourism project site called "From the Pineries to the Present." The history of Shawano's early settlers can be seen at the Heritage Park Museum. Shawano is also the center of a lively recreational area, presenting visitors with their choice of many different diversions. They include fishing or swimming on Shawano Lake; hiking, bicycling or horseback riding on a state trail; and whitewater rafting on the Wolf River. Museums in the nearby communities of Keshena and Bowler are devoted to the region's Native American and logging history. When it's time for a break from sightseeing, each of these towns also has a casino.
