The University of Wisconsin campus at Stevens Point includes the Schmeeckle Reserve, a 220-acre nature preserve. More than 60 downtown buildings comprise the Mathias Mitchell Public Square-Main Street Historic District and make a delightful walking tour. Insurance is the city's largest industry, but brewing holds a special place in the form of the Stevens Point Brewery, founded in 1857 and family owned until a few years ago.
