Clearing Folk School, The
The Clearing Folk School was established in 1935 by renowned landscape architect, Jens Jensen. The folk school experience for adults at The Clearing is a unique combination of learning, history, tradition, social interaction and quiet reflection with classes in the arts, fine crafts, nature studies and humanities. The Clearing offers year-round educational opportunities in three programs: the Summer Program (May-October, residential weeklong retreats), the Workshop Program (June-November, one- and two-day classes) and the Winter Program (January-February, locally oriented with multiple week day classes). All Clearing classes are taught in a relaxed, informal style on a "campus" area listed on the National and State Historic Registers, located in Door County overlooking the waters of Green Bay.
