Wisconsin Craft Breweries
Last Updated: 3/3/2014
Here in Wisconsin, there’s no shortage of great restaurants where you can find a wide variety of tasty eats for any meal. But when it’s the beverage rather than the fare that’s really driving your decision, all over the state you can find craft breweries with on site restaurants – each offering their own specialty beers. Here are our picks for craft breweries where you can enjoy a fantastic meal and a Wisconsin beer brewed on site.
Popular year round beers combine with bold flavors of their seasonal favorites such as Maple Bock and Cherry Wheat to provide diners and tasters with a diverse selection to pick from. The restaurant features contemporary American cuisine and partners with fishermen in Hawaii, Seattle, Portland and Maine to offer fresh seafood and uncommon pairings.
Ahnapee Brewery – Algoma
Originally sold by horse and sleigh and rail and schooner, the Ahnapee Brewery originally opened its doors in 1868. The brewery itself is not open to the public, but you can taste their creations on tap and enjoy gourmet pizza at the Ahnapee Brewery Tap Room.
Potosi Brewery & National Brewery Museum – Potosi
A good meal, cold brew and an educational outing all rolled into one. The National Brewery Museum preserves the history and memorabilia of the nation’s breweries in a research library and museum the whole family will find interesting. Their restaurant and pub is also family friendly and features their own Princess Potosa Root Beer on tap for the kids. When weather permits, the Potosi Beer Garden is the perfect place to enjoy your cold beverage.
Fratello’s Restaurant & Brewery – Appleton
Located on the beautiful waterfront, dine here for a great meal and the opportunity to taste one of their eight microbrews. Their extensive menu features a wide range of food options including seafood, steak, pasta, sandwiches and pizza.
South Shore Brewery – Ashland
The Deep Water Grille offers a relaxed environment and classic pub fare, with some of their dishes even incorporating their craft brews! Try their Beer Cheese Soup featuring their Nut Brown Ale, Pale Ale Onion Soup, Braised Onions and Poultry Marinade with their Pale Ale and their homemade Apple BBQ sauce. Their craft brews are also featured in weekly and happy hour specials.
Riverside Brewery – West Bend
This riverside restaurant is known for having one of the best fish fries in the area as well as unbeatable specials all week long. Brewery tours are available at all different times by appointment, and Saturday nights even feature entertainment. Seven of their brews are always available on tap, and for the kids, they make micro-brewed sodas. Try their orange with ice cream for an Orangecreamsicle or their Riverside House Root Beer with ice cream for a root beer float!
