Just across the border from bustling Minneapolis and St. Paul is the pristine splendor of northwestern Wisconsin. Minnesotans love the deep woods and sparkling lakes as much as Wisconsinsites do!
Check out these five decadent cabin rentals, all within an hour and a half of the Twin Cities!
It’s hard to believe that this newer, pet-friendly rental on Big Blake Lake starts at just $199 a night! This 2014-built home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two kitchens. Some dishes and cookware are provided, along with basic bedroom and bathroom linens. Get out on Big Blake on the provided kayak and paddleboat, or upgrade to a pontoon rental for just $100 a day. Some life jackets and water toys are included. For another lodging option, try Cabin on Blake “Too.”
You’ll get your own private wooded acre and 150 feet of Deer Lake shoreline with this three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom vacation home. A dock, two fireplaces and large porch overlooking the water are just a few of the perks of this 3,000-square-foot lodge. Cast a line for bass, muskies or panfish in the included fishing boat, enjoy the provided canoe and paddleboat, or upgrade to a daily or weekly pontoon rental.
Lake Haven Lodge – Cushing
You’ll get great sunsets over Round Lake from the huge windows, wraparound deck and patios at this 3,300-square-foot retreat north of St. Croix Falls. The adults will love the cute second-story “breakfast deck,” while the kids will have their own treehouse getaway. Relax under the oak canopy on your own quiet five acres, or make use of 300 feet of lake frontage, including a 35-foot dock and 75-foot sandy beach. The home has two fully equipped kitchens, and bed linens and bath towels are included.
Pond View Lodge – Frederic
This restored 1940s barn overlooking a pond is set on 200 rugged, wooded acres, and can sleep more than a dozen people. The 40-foot kitchen and dining room area is perfect for large get-togethers. With all linens and kitchenware included, all you need to bring is food, though catering is available by request. You can even request on-site spa services! You’ll love the great room and double-sided stone fireplace.
Sunset Pines – Luck
If it’s slightly cozier accommodations you prefer, try this two-bedroom, 900-square-foot cabin. The owner spent ten years building a collection of richly rustic furnishings for the home. A vintage tub and stone fireplace add to this little chalet’s charm, and both bedrooms have French doors that open to a wraparound deck overlooking Big Blake Lake through the treetops. Dogs are considered with permission. All linens, kitchenware and use of a dock are included, along with toys and games.
