VISIT Milwaukee

Nothing warms you up on a cold day like some good old fashioned comfort food. Check out these local spots when you visit Milwaukee this winter for some of the cheesiest, gooiest, stick-to-your-ribs-iest comfort food around.

Uber Tap Room & Cheese Bar

The grilled cheese of your dreams is waiting here. They serve up everything from the classic American on white bread to a gourmet version featuring gruyere and 5-year aged cheddar, plus homemade mac n’ cheese.

Milwaukee Public Market

Stop by the Milwaukee Public Market for a bowl of soup from the Soup Market. You’ll find chicken noodle, chicken dumpling and a featured chili every day, plus three to six featured soups.

Balzac

Comfort food doesn’t have to be low-key. Treat yourself to Balzac Wine Bar’s signature “Sac Mac,” made with five cheeses and topped with bleu cheese and toasted panko bread crumbs. The small plates menu also includes other heart-warming favorites like coq au vin chicken wings and duck nachos.

Onesto

The best comfort food is always made with love, and you’ll be able to taste that in the pasta made from scratch daily at Onesto. Start your meal with a jar of a delicious house-made spread for the fresh baked bread.

Ristorante Bartolotta

Just west of downtown in Wauwatosa, you can visit Tuscany from the inside of a historic Pabst Brewery building at Ristorante Bartolotta. The traditional menu features authentic Northern Italian cuisine; don’t miss the handmade pasta, or put yourself in the chef’s hands with the seasonal three-course chef’s menu.

Transfer Pizzeria Café

Pizza might just be the ultimate in comfort. At this classic Milwaukee-style pizzeria, you can choose between a traditional red sauce and an ultra-delicious garlic cream sauce, plus Paninis and pasta.
