Calumet County - Supper Club Capital of the Midwest
Last Updated: 4/16/2014
Traditional Supper Club Favorites
Wisconsin has long been well known for its famous supper clubs. You can find one just about anywhere in the state, but one county has taken their supper club tradition to the next level.
Calumet County is home to more than 30 supper clubs, a greater number than any other county in Wisconsin. Julie Schmelzer, director of Calumet’s resource management department, took note of this and dubbed Calumet County the Supper Club Capital of the Midwest with an official trademark. Calumet hopes the new title will attract the attention of visitors who might otherwise overlook the charming, welcoming cities and towns in the area. It can be difficult to choose among so many supper club options, so here are some suggestions to get you started:
Darboy Club – Appleton
The Darboy Club is conveniently located just east of downtown Appleton. The Darboy is famous for its award-winning Sunday brunch which features everything from scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage to roast beef and fried shrimp. In addition to the weekly brunch menu, the Darboy also offers an impressive spread during their Sunday dinner buffet in addition to the standard menu.
This club in Sherwood has modernized the tradition of supper club entertainment by offering six regulation lanes of bowling right in the restaurant. Located just three miles from High Cliff State Park, why not top off a day of exploring with a hearty meal and some family fun at Shenanigans?
Jim & Linda’s Lakeview Supper Club – Malone
Featuring four course meals and unmatched views of Lake Winnebago, Jim & Linda’s Supper Club has been serving and expanding since 1978. The menu features familiar supper club fare, but Jim and Linda have been perfecting their prime rib and seafood since day one; don’t miss either of these specialties! Whether you come by car or boat, you’re sure to leave satisfied.
Schwarz’s Supper Club – Elkhart Lake
Having been in business for more than 50 years, Schwarz’s Supper Club has earned the reputation of local favorite. Beginning as a one room tavern, this club has seen more renovations than you can count. Their hand cut steaks topped with a secret blend of seasonings set Schwarz’s apart from other clubs. You won’t find steak like this anywhere else! This entry was posted in Restaurants
