June in Wisconsin: Fairs, Festivals and Fun!

The great Wisconsin summer is FINALLY here, and June is jammed with fun filled events the whole family can enjoy! In fact, there’s literally something to do every weekend, and most weekdays, too. So if you’re ready to explore, here’s a short list of all the amazing happenings across the state.

STATEWIDE

Wisconsin State Parks Open House Day, Free Wheel’n Weekend and Free Fishing Weekend – Statewide (June 7-8, 2014)

The great outdoors are calling! Explore Wisconsin’s beautiful state parks at no cost. Public ATV/UTV trails are also open free of charge this weekend to ALL riders (out-of-state and Wisconsinites!). And if that isn’t enough, remember to forget your license or trout stamp because this weekend also means free fishing across the state. 

SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN EVENTS

Prairie Villa Rendezvous – Prairie du Chien (June 12-15, 2014)

To honor its fur-trading roots, Prairie Villa Rendezvous hosts the largest annual buck skinners and fur trade re-enactment in the Midwest. Enjoy primitive cooking contests, a bow shoot, black powder shoot and other activities.

Monroe Balloon Rally & Blues Festival – Monroe (June 13-14, 2014)

The Green County Fairgrounds light up with live music and hot air balloons for this annual festival. Enjoy balloon rides, a car show, arts and crafts, carnival rides and more. Admission is free, parking onsite is just $3.

National Women’s Music Festival – Madison (June 26-29, 2014)

The annual event serves as a platform to communicate the joys and struggles of daily life through workshops, concerts, comedy and theatre presentations. All ages welcome.

SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN EVENTS

Walleye Weekend Festival – Fond du Lac (June 6-8, 2014)

This festival is more than just fish. It has musical acts, sporting events and plenty of family activities. It also raises money for local charities; last year they reached a whopping $225,000! 

Pig in the Park – Whitewater (June 20-21, 2014)

Enjoy some Wisconsin brews and classic BBQ. This annual cook-off challenges 30 teams to grill up their best BBQ in four categories: chicken, pork ribs, and pork and beef brisket. Don’t miss the action and delicious samples leading up to the crowning of the Grand Champion.

Milwaukee Air & Water Show – Milwaukee (June 21-22, 2014)

This year’s headliners include the Blue Angels and the world’s premier airshow performer, Sean Tucker with Team Oracle. Reserved seating is available for purchase online. Free seating is located at Bradford Beach to the north and McKinley beach to the south.

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN EVENTS

Great Wisconsin Cheese Festival – Little Chute (June 6-8, 2014)

Behold a big cheese parade, delectable cheese carving demonstrations, a cheese curd eating contest and much more.

Carp Fest and Wisconsin Carp Fishing Championship – Two Rivers (June 7-8, 2014)

The country’s best anglers head to Two Rivers, also known as “Carp Town,” for this legendary competition.  Live music and food available!

3rd Annual Door County Beer Festival – Baileys Harbor (June 14, 2014)

Sample limited-edition New Glarus beers and meet with New Glarus founder and CEO, Deb Carey. This all-day event offers guests a first- hand look at local brews AND the chance to sip on more than 140 of Wisconsin’s finest craft beers. 

NORTHWEST WISCONSIN EVENTS

15th Annual Fresh Art Spring Tour – Pepin (June 6-8, 2014)

Embark on a self-guided road trip to discover local studios and galleries. The tour promises a scenic drive filled with colorful wildflowers and trillium lined roads.

June Dairy Days – Gilman (June 14-15, 2014)

Celebrate with two full days of entertainment, including a classic car show and swap meet, triathlon and fun run and softball tournament. There are also plenty of activities catered to your taste buds, like the dairy breakfast and chicken dinner.

3rd Annual Northwoods Blues Festival – Spooner (June 20-21, 2014)

Enjoy two full days of soulful music with eight bands, including headliners Canned Heat and Johnny Winter, and on-site camping opportunities. You don’t want to miss this music experience.
