The Morel Mushroom Festival
Last Updated: 12/16/2013
In Wisconsin, we don’t just celebrate brats, cheese and beer with festivals…add mushrooms to that list! In 1982, Muscoda was named the “Wisconsin’s Morel Capital,” and so each year they a festival to celebrate the tasty treat!
The Morel Mushroom Festival runs May 14th-15th this year. Visitors can sample fried mushrooms (yum!) or purchase some to take home and enjoy later. The delicious mushroom prepared by local vendors at this 29th annual festival. The weekend also includes mushroom contests, a parade, arts and crafts, flea market, ball tournaments, carnival, wine tasting, food vendors and much more. Saturday evening is highlighted by the fire department’s annual steak dinner, entertainment, refreshments and fireworks over the beautiful Wisconsin River.
Need another reason to go? On Sunday, from noon-5 p.m. there will be helicopter rides available courtesy of Fly High. How cool is that?!
We’d love to hear about some great recipes or see pictures from the Morel Mushroom Festival - including those from the chopper! This entry was posted in Fairs & Festivals
