A Trip to Taliesin

Paul Cunningham is the owner of Schreiner’s restaurant in Fond du Lac.

A few years ago, my daughter and I traveled to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin in Spring Green. We toured the Taliesin buildings and were immersed in its rich architectural history, not to mention the intrigue of Frank Lloyd Wright’s personal life…it was an awesome experience! The Taliesin complex includes Wright's home, Hillside School, and a few other structures. Tours are available at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center - a destination unto itself with models of Wright's work, exhibits, and a cafe. The Taliesin personnel made the history of the land and the buildings come to life for us.

Words cannot describe the panoramic views from every room at Taliesin.  Frank Lloyd Wright had immense respect for nature and was inspired by Wisconsin’s natural beauty; creating his form of purely American architecture in Spring Green. It was a memorable day surrounded by the beauty of the area and the power of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture.

Schreiner's is famous for its freshly prepared food and professional service, not to mention its delicious pies, New England Clam Chowder and the phrase, "Life is short...eat dessert first! Paul began his career at Schreiner’s in 1969 as a 15 year old bus-boy working his way up eventually purchasing the company in 1992.
