Welcome back, everybody. I hope everyone is staying warm out there. Wisconsin has so much to offer in the winter: ice fishing, skiing, snowmobiling - you name it!

Since moving to Green Bay after I was drafted in 2008, I've always noticed and have appreciated how kind everyone is. My family in Kansas always mentions how nice and considerate the people of Wisconsin are. I also value how much you love football - it's great to play in front of the greatest fans in the NFL each week. All in all, it's great to call Wisconsin home, even if it snows into spring!

A couple of weeks ago, Emily and I took Royal to the Wisconsin Dells for his birthday. I'm not sure who enjoyed the trip more, Royal, Emily or I. We stayed at the Wilderness Resort and it was great to have a taste of summer in the middle of winter. We loved the Dells and the indoor water parks at the Wilderness were awesome. The Wilderness has four different indoor water parks: Klondike Kavern, Wild WaterDome, Wild West (Royal's favorite) and Cubby's Cove. Each park has a different theme and they all have some type of restaurant/eatery nearby. Besides the food options in the water parks, the Wilderness has a great selection of restaurants located on the resort grounds. We ate dinner at Field's and it was one of the best restaurants I've been to. It's a steakhouse, so I had to try the filet! They had a kids menu that was perfect for Royal and their dessert options topped off a great meal. We can't wait to go back to the Dells sometime in the summer so we can enjoy all of the outdoor water parks.

Speaking of getaways, I'm anxious for warmer weather so I can plan a few golfing trips. I love trying different courses in Door County and it's great to bring the family along with all of the amazing shops and restaurants. My teammates and I will plan a couple of trips to Kohler this summer. They have some of the most challenging courses; I never stand a chance. I love staying at the American Club when I visit Kohler. The hotel and spa always add to an already relaxing escape.

When I'm not visiting these great Wisconsin destinations, I enjoy exploring Green Bay and the Fox Cities. In the summer and fall, Emily and I love taking Royal to the farmer's market on Saturdays. There is nothing better than fresh Wisconsin produce, Emily and I always try to incorporate local foods into our meals - it always tastes better! If we're going out for a meal in Green Bay we like to try Three Three Five. They have a private dining studio, which is perfect for Emily and I when family comes to town. The food is great and they have one of the best brunches in Green Bay.  When it comes to dessert in the Nelson household we are all about frozen yogurt. Not just any frozen yogurt though... Orange Leaf Frozen yogurt. Mason Crosby and I opened a shop in Appleton (3310 W College Ave, Appleton, WI) last year. We've really enjoyed this project and it's created a new way for us to connect with the community. Everyone should stop by; maybe you'll see me there!

Well, that wraps up my last blog of the season; it’s been a pleasure sharing all of my experiences. I would like to thank the fans for all of the positive feedback I’ve received while blogging and my wife Emily for her input. Thanks for reading and I hope you get a chance to check out some of my favorite Wisconsin destinations and activities.
