Wisconsin’s Fall Sports Fun

This sports schedule isn’t about watching games on TV…it’s about getting out there, being active, and having fun.  Whatever shape you’re in, there’s an event or two for you:

Take Home a Table Tennis Trophy

Some of the nation’s best table tennis players will compete in the Butterfly Badger Open Table Tennis Tournament, and you can too: walk-up registration is open to recreational players on Saturday.

When: Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22, 2013 | Recreational Event: Saturday at 4:00pm. Register by 3:30pm.

Where: Center Court Sports Complex, Waukesha

Kick It with Your Friends

Get your old playground team back together (six player minimum) for the 5th Annual Grantoberfest Kickball Tournament. Prizes for first place, best team name, and best uniform. Stick around Grantoberfest for a whole day of fun activities, from scarecrow decorating to a wiener dog race.

When: Saturday, September 21, 2013

Be the Biggest Winner 

The Biggest Loser RunWalk Racine is a race open to people of all fitness levels, inspired by the TV show The Biggest Loser. It’s part of a weekend of healthy fun,

When: Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22, 2013

  • Kids’ one-mile fun run (ages 4-12), Saturday, 2 pm 
  • Half-marathon, Sunday, 7:30am
  • 5k race, Sunday, 8am

Where: Festival Hall, Racine

Amaze Yourself 

Gather a team of two to four friends for The Amazing Sunrise Rotary Race, also inspired by TV. Ten events, scattered throughout picturesque West Bend, will pose physical and mental challenges. One of 60 teams will take home a whopping $2,000.

When: September 28, 2013 | 10am

Where: Regner Park, West Bend

Pedal through the Leaves

With 5, 12, 22, and 30-mile rides along winding trails, a parent-child tag team event, and a children’s ride, the Fall Color Biking Festival offers fun for every cyclist. Plus: pick up pro tips at the Mountain Bike Clinic, 1:30pm.

When: September 28, 2013 | On-site registration opens at 7:30am.

Where: John Muir Trail, Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit 

Rock the Rockman 

The Rockman Challenge combines a 4-mile paddle on the Rock River, a 15-mile bike ride, a 3-mile wooded trail run, half-mile obstacle course, and a 50-yard sack hop to the finish. Compete on your own or in a team of two or four.

When: September 28, 2013 | 9:30am

Where: Bethesda Grounds, West Bend 

Try a Triathlon

The Kickapoo Reserve Dam Challenge offers stunning views of fall color the Kickapoo Valley, but it makes you work for them…three times over: with a 7-mile paddle on the Kickapoo River, a 14-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile run. Open to two- and four-person relay teams.

When: October 5, 2013, 9:00am start

Where: Kickapoo Valley Reserve, La Farge

…or do something shorter. The WhistleStop Marathon/Half-Marathon & Festival also offers 5k and 10k options, as well as a “Little Engine that Could” race for 2-4 year olds. Post race, there’s a Brews & Blues Fest (for the grown-ups).

When: October 12, 2013.

  • 5k & 10k races, 8am

  • Toddler run, 2pm
