Fun for Teens in Wisconsin
Last Updated: 6/28/2013
Fun for the whole family doesn’t just mean kid-friendly. It’s got to be teen-friendly too. That’s why we’ve compiled some activities and adventures so entertaining, they’re guaranteed to interest your coolest, hardest-to-please family member.
If your teenage daughter loves the mall, check out the unique, trendy, and vintage finds Wisconsin’s boutiques have to offer. We recommend Appleton’s chic downtown, Milwaukee’s bright lights and big shopping, and the lively experience of State Street in Madison.
A Museum Unlike Any Other
A visit to House on the Rock in Spring Green is like entering a dream world. It’s home to one of the world’s largest indoor carousels with 269 animals, none of which are horses. (Sorry, no rides on this one, it’s all for show.) Stroll through the streets of yesteryear, listen as instruments play themselves, and snap a photo with a sea creature longer than the Statue of Liberty is tall. The winter season runs January 6-March 11, Fridays through Sundays.
Cave of the Mounds
Channel your inner Indiana Jones! Cave of the Mounds in Blue Mounds is a National Natural Landmark that began forming over a million years ago. Colorful and massive stalactites, stalagmites, and column formations line the caverns. Take a guided tour offered on weekends in winter. Did we mention the cave stays a balmy 50 degrees year round?
If your teen has a taste for the extraordinary, then Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in the Wisconsin Dells is sure to leave them awe-struck. Weird oddities, amazing galleries, and fun puzzles will have them talking about the trip for days to come. Wizard Quest is another Dells teen-pleaser. This place is packed with brain teasers. Everyone will have fun solving riddles while escaping to a fantasy world.
Fun in the Snow
Grab your teen and a few of their friends and head to Cascade Mountain in Portage.
Try one of their 26 skiing trails or take to their snow tube park on one of five, 800-foot long chutes. The best part? They make their own snow so no need to wait around for Mother Nature.
