Music Festival Discovery

Day 71: Dig Site Discovery, Ancient Drawings

Following my exciting recent visit to Blue Mounds Wisconsin, I decided to relocate our dig site. To great benefit, as it turns out! Mere days after moving, we’ve discovered a most surprising collection of ancient drawings. These simple, red pigmented images clearly depict musical instruments in the possession of early Wisconsinites; powerful manifestations of the world’s first music festival, right here in Wisconsin!

Imagine the majesty of that moment, or perhaps more likely, the calamitous cacaphony of ear-drum-offending noises. Lucky for us, musical instruments and the sounds they produce are much improved since then. Which explains why, to the people of Wisconsin, music and fun are practically inseparable. From Country Thunder in Twin Lakes to the Great River Jazz Fest in La Crosse, there’s never a shortage of sounds and merriment in Wisconsin.

Tunefully,
Miles
