Biking the Glacial Drumlin Trail | Photo Credit: Mary Langenfeld
It’s not every day you turn 175! This year, the city of Jefferson toasted to its demisemiseptcentennial (good luck pronouncing that). Well, we figured what better time to take a road trip than this weekend and what better place than Jefferson?
It all starts with a drive on Rustic Road 87 in neighboring Fort Atkinson. Take in the breathtaking views as you pass through hilly farmland and spot hawks, turkey and deer along the way.
Do a little time traveling by exploring Jefferson’s nineteenth-century storefronts, from antiques dealers to cafes and an old pharmacy. Be sure to visit Hayloft Antique Barn for a throwback keepsake, then catch a performance at the Performing Arts Center or enjoy a wine tasting at Vetro Winery.
And don’t forget to indulge your outdoor jones. Bring your bike and prepare for a picturesque autumn ride along the beautiful Glacial Drumlin Trail, which stretches for 52 miles of farmlands and glacial landscape. Prefer to be on the water? Spend the afternoon kayaking or canoeing the Rock River through multiple lakes and rich farmlands.
Offering good spirit, Jefferson is a place to celebrate autumn, the outdoors, and happy birthdays.
