Wisconsin Weekend Fun

We’re nearing the end of January but don’t worry, there is plenty of winter left!  (Which is great because there are still plenty of fun events going on around the state that you should know about.)

The class cabin or the caboose, where will you sit on your train ride at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum?

Winterfest and the National Snow Sculpting Championships will take place on the shores of Geneva Lake at Riviera Park February 2-6.  Head down to Lake Geneva with the family for some winter fun and watch the nation’s top snow sculptors compete for the top prize.  You’ll be amazed at what they can do.  There will be plenty of children’s activities including horse-drawn carriage, wagon, tethered hot air balloon and helicopter rides, as well as children's snow sculpting.

If you plan on heading to Lake Geneva for the event, take a camera with you and snap some photos of your favorite snow sculptures, then post them to our Facebook page or share them with us on Twitter.

The following weekend head to North Freedom for a good ol’ fashion train ride at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum.  This is the 36th year the museum will be holding their Snow Train event.  Enjoy a seven-mile, 50-minute ride through a winter wonderland in the Baraboo Hills on the former Chicago & North Western Railroad.  You can have dinner on the ride and enjoy the beautiful scenery from the first class cabin or the caboose!

So there you have it, two unique Wisconsin events for your enjoyment!  You’re welcome.
