Wisconsin’s Natural Wonders – Part Three: Chain O’ Lakes
Posted on: 8/21/2011
The Chain O’Lakes live deep in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. It connects 28 lakes, making it the largest inland chain of lakes in the world. How cool is that?!
Enjoy water skiing, wakeboarding, pontoon cruising, canoeing, kayaking, fishing or simply taking in the scenic surroundings. The depth of these lakes varies widely from one to the next, providing more than enough space for whatever floats your boat. Speaking of boats, there are abundant landings along the shore for anglers hoping to catch bluegill, perch, northern and the granddaddy of the freshwater fish; musky.
Here’s a fun little secret on the Chain O’ Lakes: While the lakes themselves are 100 percent natural, it was the work of humans that connected all of them. Dams were built to dam up the Wisconsin and Eagle Rivers and connect the lakes to serve the logging industry and generate electricity.
The Chain O’ Lakes is perfect for pretty photo opps. Have you snapped a fun pic on or around the lakes? We’d love to see them! Post them to our Facebook page. This entry was posted in Things to Do and tagged Attractions
