Slide into Wisconsin Waterparks this Winter
Last Updated: 12/30/2013
It’s a Wisconsin tradition for brave souls to take the polar bear plunge into Lake Michigan on New Year’s Day. If frigid temperatures and chilly water aren’t really your speed but you’ve got a hankering for doing some splishing and splashing this winter, we’ve got you covered.
Wisconsin is home to some of the best waterparks around, and even boasts the “Waterpark Capital of the World®” in the Wisconsin Dells. Venture north though and there are plenty of opportunities for families to put away the snowboards and skis, and dig out the swimsuits.
In Wausau, you’ll find Grand Lodge by Stoney Creek and receive the full northern Wisconsin hospitality treatment. The kids can glide through the Lazy River, slide down the Sasquatch or play in the Tree House. And that’s just the beginning of what is offered.
Further north is The Waters of Minocqua, which features 10,000 square feet of waterpark paradise and a tropical environment that offers fun for kids of all ages. Here’s the kicker: the waterpark has a plunge pool. That’s right. As we mentioned, if you’re not up for braving a polar bear plunge outside, slide down the enclosed tubes and plunge right into the pool.
Isn’t Wisconsin great? We need to start an annual “indoor” polar bear plunge event. This entry was posted in Waterparks
