Whitetail Ridge Ski Area

Skiers of all ages enjoy the downhill slopes with a vertical drop of over 185 feet. Whitetail Ridge has four ski slopes, the longest run being 1,300 feet. A self loading T-Bar lift serves three slopes. Cross-Country skiing - five miles of trails wind through 300 acres of forest on Fort McCoy. All trails begin and end at the Chalet. Cross-country ski equipment may be rented at the Chalet. The Chalet serves a delicious variety of sandwiches, side dishes and beverages at reasonable prices. Tubing - sliding down the 800' long slope on a large inner tube is part of the thrills at Whitetail. Tubing area has its own tow rope so the ride up is just as fun. During open season: Fri 4:30-9pm, Sat 10am-9pm, Sun noon-6pm. Call to confirm open dates prior to arrival.

On Highway 21, seven miles from Sparta or nine miles from Tomah. Take Gate 19 into Fort McCoy and follow the signs. 31 miles from LaCrosse. 81 miles from Eau Claire. 109 miles from Madison.
