Big Ideas, Small Packages: magnificient glass under 20

November 1, 2008 - February 21, 2009

Neenah

This exhibition will explore the continuum of glass working techniques and their applications in contemporary forms that honor the scale and technical mastery of glass paperweights, and continue the techniques in other glass sculptural forms. Honoring the paperweight traditions and techniques will examine current masters of the traditional techniques of millefiori and lampwork and discuss their inspiration from 19th century glass work. The exhibit will also explore the continuum of glass using these techniques in today’s language of murrini, lampwork, and flamework for small scale sculpture. Admission is always free. This [project/program] is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
