Laurel Fant, collections manager of the Rock County Historical Society, will be talking about gravestone markings and their symbolism. Come out and see what a grave marked with a broken chain, an arrow, a beehive, a shock of wheat, or a dove used to mean to the survivors of a family member buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Gravestone rubbings will be carried out during the tour and the public will be offered the opportunity to divine graves with divining rods, sometimes referred to as grave witching. This tour is offered free to the public.
