A 90-ton mechanized, wing-like sun shield opens and closes twice daily atop the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Santiago Calatrava-designed reception hall.

 

Fiesta Costume Design & Parade

Local artist Gloria Seward will present a three-day workshop for people interested in expanding their artistic expression. Twenty participants from age 7 through adult will make and design ponchos, sombreros, paper lanterns &chains, maracas, Fiesta bead necklaces, tamborines, bongo drums, etc., and then have an opportunity to wear their costumes and participate in a parade during the park celebration on August 9. Participants are also being invited to participate in a Fiesta at the park from 1pm-5pm on August 9 including Latin music, cactus ring toss game, Mexican hat dance, limbo, piñata, and more.
