Midsummer Celebration

Activities commemorating traditional Scandinavian summer celebrations of the longer summer days. Afternoon activities include exhibits, maypole, bread sale, food, silent auction, music and bonfire. In Sweden, branches with leaves are made into roping and twined around the maypole and then it is raised for dancing around. Serving of traditional Scandinavian foods including Swedish meatballs, new potatoes, veggies, herring, and cheese and fruit for dessert begins at 6pm. Seven historic buildings which are part of the museum house displays that depict the history and culture of this area including school, logging, agriculture, and Co-op displays; plus a gift shop.
