Walking Tour: Token Creek Cemetery

George Spaulding settled in Token Creek seven years before Wisconsin became a state. Token Creek was on an old military road that went from Chicago to Fort Winnebago which made it a busy village. The new tour will include information on the grist mill and legends explaining the naming of Token Creek and why the post office was named only Token. Family names associated with Token Creek Cemetery are Aus, Spaulding, Combs, Douglas and Lawrence. A memorial at the cemetery lists three veterans from the War of 1812 plus six Civil War veterans and one WW I veteran. Meet at Token Creek Cemetery, 6394 Portage Road at the parking lot of the conservancy.
