The title of the exhibition pays tribute to self-taught artist Joseph Yoakum’s referring to the process of drawing as “spiritual unfoldment.” He found that the locations he drew revealed themselves only after the drawings had begun. Once completed, the drawings would tell of a place in Yoakum’s past, whether real or imagined.
