A Civil War Holiday
The Rock County Historical Society is hosting a special tour of the Lincoln-Tallman house. Costumed interpreters from the 1860s will showcase the house and talk about the traditions of Victorian holiday decorations, preparing gift packages for soldiers during the war, writing letters during the war, and singing carols and other music common to the time period. Craft activities will be available for kids at the Helen Jeffris Woods Museum Center and Mary Lincoln is planning on making an appearance at this event. Dutch oven cooking and chestnut roasting will take place outside of the Lincoln-Tallman House and a Tannenbaum candle lighting will take place at 4 pm. Holiday cookies and cider will be made available at this event. Admission is $10 per person at the door and $8 in advance. Tickets are available at the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center.
