Rally 'Round the Flag: 4th Annual Civil War Living History Weekend
What a great weekend event! It's a re-enactment of numerous homefront activities, rather than a battlefield show. The Civil War encampment features soldiers, officers, officers wives, camp followers, and tents with furnishings and equipment relevant to the era. It's all walkable within Leonard Leota Park, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. An ice cream social kicks off the event Friday evening. Meet Civil War reenactors and tour their camps! Saturday offers drills and demonstrations throughout the day. Civil War music, performed on Civil War era instruments, will be played by the Regimental Volunteer Band of Wisconsin at various times between noon and 4pm. Come and go as you please. This event is free and open to the public, courtesy of the Evansville Grove Society.
