Visit a historic encampment and battle re-enactment on Wisconsin's only War of 1812 battlefield, now the west lawn of the Villa Louis estate. The War of 1812 came to Prairie du Chien on July 17, 1814, when U.S. and British-Canadian soldiers clashed on what is now the west lawn of the Villa Louis. Learn about the British assault on U.S. Fort Shelby in a battle scenario at 2:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Tour the camps and learn about military life in 1814.
