Gingerbread, Snowmen & Santa
The Rock County Historical Society will host a full-slate of activities with programming occurring at the Lincoln-Tallman House and the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center. The Great Gingerbread Challenge kicks off our day of programming by inviting families and youth groups to come and build a unique gingerbread house to compete and be displayed in the museum. Up to 25 groups are eligible to join the fun, with a chance to win $25 & $50 gift certificates to Chuck E. Cheese. Gingerbread house kits and supplies can be bought at local craft stores. The event runs from 10am-1pm, with judging and awards distributed at 1pm. It will be held in the lower gallery of the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center. The RCHS and BIFF (Beloit International Film Festival) have partnered to bring you Snowmen, a 2010 classic that chronicles a humorous and heartfelt coming-of-age story about three unlikely heroes and the winter that changed their lives forever. Admission is $3 for adults, children and RCHS members are FREE. Showings at 3pm & 5pm. The movie will show in the Lower Gallery of the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center. Seating capacity is 70 guests and refreshments are available for purchase. Our holiday station located in the Upper Gallery of the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center, offers guests the opportunity to get their picture taken with Father Christmas or alone in Santa’s sleigh. Stop by our custom gift wrapping and holiday card station to get your gifts wrapped and cards made. All programs and programmatic revenue further the mission of enriching and engaging the communities of Rock County through the preservation and dissemination of the unique history and heritage of our area.
