Back to the Country Revue
Back To The Country Revue presents three stellar acts - Bill and Bobbie Malone, Richard Wiegel, and The Kristy Larson Honky Tonk Trio...all in one show! Share a joyful evening recalling the songs and stories of Country and Western music. This phenomenal show brings premiere musicians and singers together with America's best-known country music historian and storyteller, Bill Malone. Bill Malone, host of the WORT-FM (89.9) show Back to the Country and author of the first and most complete history of the genre, "Country Music, U.S.A." is a musician and well known historian of country music. Born and raised near and in Tyler, Texas, Bill taught history at Tulane University in New Orleans before retiring to Madison, Wisconsin. Married to Bobbie Malone, with whom he plays country music, on mandolin and guitar. Following in the path of finger-picking guitar greats Chet Atkins, Doc Watson and Mississippi John Hurt, Richard Wiegel has been a fixture on the Madison, WI music scene for more than 30 years. His stirring guitar work has added excitement to the performances of The Midwesterners, Johnny and the Hawaiians, The Wisconsin Opry, Out of the West, The Swing Crew, Clicker and The Bowery Boys. Kristy Larson has been called "one of the shining lights of Madison roots music". Her light burns even brighter as she joins forces with husband and multi-instrumentalist Mark Roeder as well as Steve Kasprzak. Together, they're a midwestern Rawlins and Welch +1. Individually, they've enjoyed a long road of country music experience that has shown them the way to the new trio.
