Classified as one of the most influential musicians of all time, King Sunny Ade is a Nigerian pioneer of modern world music. He is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has been dubbed the "king of juju music." He began touring in the 1960's, and eventually formed his own record label and released hundreds of songs in Nigeria that caught wind in the west in the 1980's. He became a global success, and his newly formed band began performing in America, attracting audiences all across the nation. His early success helped him create thousands of jobs and the King Sunny Ade Foundation that aids young musicians in kick-starting their careers. He is currently the chairperson of the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria, and he has been featured in three films. Two of his songs made it into Billboard's top 200 list.
