St Croix Falls
Now in its fourth year, the Festival Theatre Conservatory for Young Performers has established itself as an invaluable experience for youth actors who are ready to take the next step. This year, the conservatory will culminate in a production of Aristophanes’ comedy classic, The Frogs. Set in 405 BCE, the play centers on the Greek god Dionysus and his cunning slave Xanthias as they make a thrilling voyage to the Underworld. Uninspired by the state of the Athenian theatre, Dionysus determines to venture to Hades to bring the recently deceased playwright Euripides back from the dead. However, upon discovering Euripides dueling with the acclaimed writer Aeschylus, our hero finds himself caught in the middle of this unexpected face-off. Pairing the talents of the St. Croix Valley’s youth actors with those of Festival Theatre’s 2014 summer company, The Frogs is guaranteed to be an adventure for everyone! Tickets are $13.50 adults, $8.50 youth. The Frogs, By Aristophanes, in rotating repertory.
