Gilbert Brown

Gilbert Brown is a former nose tackle for the Green Bay Packers. He played 125 games for the team, recording 292 tackles including 7 sacks. Dubbed “The Gravedigger,”Brown was a major defensive part of the 1996 Packers team that won Super Bowl XXXI. His 15 playoff games for the green and gold is the second most in franchise history. William Henderson

William Henderson is a former fullback for the Green Bay Packers. He played his entire career in a Packer uniform, earning a reputation as a durable and effective player. Named to the Pro Bowl in 2004, he has blocked for six of the top nine individual rushing efforts in team history. Henderson was selected as Green Bay’s ’Unsung Hero’ in 2001 for his efforts on the field and in the community. On July 23, 2011, Henderson will be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame. Neil Hoffman

Neil Hoffman has been president of Wisconsin’s only independent, non-profit four-year college of art and design since 2007. Before leading MIAD, Hoffman served as president of Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A nationwide expert in the accreditation processes for institutions of higher learning, he is also a lifelong advocate of the arts and community arts education. Jon Greendeer

President Jon Greendeer was elected President of the Ho-Chunk Nation on June 7, 2011 and was sworn into office on July 6, 2011. He received his associate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County where he served as vice president of the student association, ambassador, and the President of the Native American Student Organization. Jon obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he served as Multicultural and Diversity Issues Director for the Student Government Association and served as a delegate to the United Council for both universities.

Jon began his career with the Ho-Chunk Nation in the office of the president as the executive administrative officer where he managed the nation’s executive directors. Martin Hintz

Martin Hintz is the Milwaukee-based author of the recently-released “Wisconsin Farm Lore: Kicking Cows, Giant Pumpkins and Other Tales from the Back Forty” (The History Press) which is chock full of anecdotes about the state’s farm heritage. His 10th edition of “Wisconsin: Off the Beaten Path” (Globe Pequot) has also just come out, uncovering many of the state’s marvelous tourism secrets.
Hintz and his wife, Pam Percy, also farm several acres of vegetables for their Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) clients, in addition to selling eggs and broilers from their chicken flock. Larry Williams

Larry “Longboard” Williams has been a life long resident of Sheboygan and along with his twin brother, Lee “Water Flea” Williams has helped pioneer the Great Lakes surfing “stoke”. With 46 years of surfing behind him, he’s more well known in East and West Coast surfing hotspots than in his own hometown. After appearing in the award-winning surf film, Step into Liquid, and the Great Lakes surfing documentary Unsalted, even Sony Pictures caught on and modeled Surf’s Up’s Chicken Joe, an animated surfing chicken, after him and his brother. Al Jarreau

Al Jarreau | Remembering Milwaukee

Al Jarreau was born in Milwaukee in 1940. He attended Lincoln High School there, and then enrolled at Ripon College. He began singing in his church at the age of four, and eventually achieved the opportunity to sing with a pianist at the Lobby Lounge in Milwaukee’s Pfister Hotel. Eventually, he moved to California (San Francisco and then Los Angeles) to pursue success in music, and he found it. Al Jarreau has been performing professionally for more than 50 years. He is the only singer to win “Best Vocalist” Grammy Awards in three different genres of music (pop, jazz and R&B). The longest-serving artistic director in Milwaukee Ballet history, Michael Pink has established himself as a prominent member of the Milwaukee arts community with his commitment to the future of dance through new work, education and collaboration. An international choreographer and teacher, Pink trained as a classical dancer at the Royal Ballet, joining English National Ballet in 1975.
