At the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, curators sometimes have to perform crane mating dances to get the birds in the appropriate frame of mind.

This 1,158-acre state-owned site is located next to 20,000 acres of county land. The property is managed with fire so it-Æs mainly grasslands with scattered ponds. This property is managed for Sharp-tailed Grouse. It is also a good place to see grassland birds including Clay-colored and Henslow-Æs Sparrows. Yellow-headed Blackbirds use the cattail marshes for nesting and there are numerous species of ducks nesting there.
