At the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, curators sometimes have to perform crane mating dances to get the birds in the appropriate frame of mind.

Details

Across the top of Forest and Florence Counties, the Brule is a boundary river between Wisconsin and Michigan. It is characterized by long stretches of slow water and low hazard rapids. Numerous streams flow into the river. Access is available at county and forest service roads. NOTE: below Brule River Dam and at the junction where the Michigamme joins the Brule to become the Menominee, the rapid increase in current combined with huge waves can potentially swamp an open craft.
