Central Wisconsin River

Details

The central Wisconsin River winds through the communities of Wausau, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids. Many locks and dams exist on this section of the river. Both Castle-Rock and Petenwell Lakes provide opportunities for boating, paddle sports, and other water recreation. In addition to resorts, many county parks along this stretch of river provide camping, picnic and boat-launching opportunities. Buckhorn State Park offers both wilderness and drive-in camping.
