Bayfield's annual 5- and 10-kilometer snowshoe races honor local hero Asaph Whittlesey, who snowshoed 250 miles in the 1870s to protest the area’s lack of railroads.

Details

Dane County Parks offers trails for hiking, recreation biking, and mountain biking. For winter fun, Dane County has miles of groomed cross-country ski trails and well as access to over 274 miles of snowmobile trails. A designated snowshoe trail is located at Token Creek County Park and other parks are open for snowshoeing as well.
