More than 100 years old, Mead Public Library recenly celebrated the completion of the Centennial Building Project which enlarged and remodeled the 1974 building. Located in the heart of Harbor Centre Downtown, the library is the hub of activity for all ages. It records nearly 900,000 visits annually, and houses 275,000 books plus videos, CD's and audio-tapes. Book discussions, special programs and guest lecturers and performers are frequent attractions. Inside the library's Quiet Study Room are two newly-restored 1910 Cameron murals, the first public pictorial works of art in Sheboygan County. North of the building are the Halpring Water Feature, installed in 1976, and the beautiful Weill Charitable Fund Clocktower featuring four brass reliefs that was installed in 1997. The Water Feature and Clocktower are stunning first impressions to visitors of one of the finest libraries in the midwest.
