This segment of the North Country Trail offers a truly outstanding snowshoe hike. It is located in the Marengo Semi-Primitive Area and can be traversed in either direction as a point-to-point hike or out and back. There are several good climbs, but overall the terrain is moderately difficult.

All InterestsDirections from Nearest Town/IntersectionFrom Cable take Cty Hwy M 10 miles east to Cty Hwy D. Go left/north on Cty Hwy D for 5 miles to Pioneer Road. Turn right on Pioneer Road and drive 2 miles to FR 201. Turn left on 201 and go almost 2 miles to the junction with FR 202. Continue straight onto FR 202 for just over 1.5 miles to the the parking lot on the right.
