Langlade County’s Wolf River drops 430 feet over 28 miles, making it one of the fastest-flowing rivers in the Midwest.

Details

The Pine River flows through northern Forest and Florence Counties to meet the Menominee west of Niagra. A state-designated wild river, it courses through some of the most primitive areas in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Spring and early summer are the best times to canoe as water levels drop significantly in the summer. Several rapids challenge the canoeist; a few require portages.
