Located in Riverside Park, at the west end of State Street, Riverside Museum interprets La Crosse history, concentrating on the importance of the Mississippi Rivers to the area's growth and development. A video provides an overview to the area's history and introduces the museum displays. A photograph gallery documents the riverboat era, and one room is devoted to artifacts connected with the War Eagle, a riverboat which caught fire and sank in 1870.
