Spread Eagle Barrens State Natural Area
A 7,400-acre, upland barrens; an area of undulating terrain with many small, clear lakes. The Pine River, a state-designated wild river, splits the acreage. There are many dirt roads, ample gravel parking, and good access. Bird species include the red-tailed hawk, upland sandpiper, yellow-bellied sapsucker, great crested flycatcher, eastern bluebird, warbling vireo, prairie warbler, chestnut-sided warbler, clay-colored sparrow and Brewer's blackbird.
