The Burnett Dairy Cooperation in Grantsburg is made up of 200 dairies and owned by farmers. They make cheeses that can remind anyone why Wisconsin is the Cheese State of America. The Burnett Dairy has one of only 56 certified Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers, Bruce Willis, who has more than 35 years of experience and four certificates to make the finest quality Cheddar, Colby, Monterey Jack and Mozzarella. At the 2013 U.S. Cheese Championship, a competition where more than 30,000 pounds of cheese are entered and evaluated every year, the Burnett co-op won the Best of Class award for “Alpha’s Morning Sun with Rosemary” and 2nd place awards for Smoked String, Mild Provolone and Aged Provolone. In 2014, the co-op won Best of Class for both their Smoked String and Alpha’s Morning Sun with Herbs de Provence.
